What does active listening look like?
Explain it like I'm 16
Active listening means giving someone attention and checking that you understand them, instead of only waiting for your turn to speak.
A real-world example
A friend says plans keep changing at the last minute. You reply, “It sounds like the uncertainty is frustrating. Would agreeing earlier help?” That checks the problem before jumping straight to advice.

Common misunderstanding
Listening does not require you to solve everything. Sometimes asking whether the person wants advice or just to be heard is more helpful.
